How is the organization for Woz Cup 2012 set up and how to reach people with questions?

Stockholm Segway Polo Club is host for the event. The committee for Woz Cup 2012 consists of the following people:

Why is the event during 5 days?

We are planning the event for at least 16 teams. To have a fair tournament we need to play a lot of games. We also want to have some extra time in case of heavy raining (normally this is the best time of year in Stockholm).

Where is the game played? What fields will be used?

We now can confirm that group play will be held at Östermalms IP June 6-8 and final played on Zinkensdamms IP on June 9-10. Östermalms IP is next door to the Stockholm Olympic Stadium north of the city center, and hosts four game fields with artificial turf. Zinkensdamms is in the south part of central Stockholm, with a possibility to have two concurrent games, also on artificial turf.

Will there be time for practice for teams arriving the day before?

We won't have access to the stadium until the 6th of June, but there is a large grass field (Gärdet) close by which is open for anyone. At this moment we are unable to say if we will be able provide the rental segways for practice on the 5th of June.

Do you need a rental car during the games?

Hotel is more expensive compared to Folsom, but there is limited need for rental cars. In the city of Stockholm you go by subway and Zinkensdamm and Stadion (close to Östermalms IP) is on the red line (Ropsten-Norsborg). It’s a very cheap transportation around the city.

As a side note, Segways are allowed on public streets by Swedish law (treated as a bicycle).

Transportation from Arlanda airport - how much hassle, how long time to expect?

Arlanda Airport is north of Stockholm. You go to city center by Arlanda Express Train (280 SEK) in 20 minutes or by bus (110 SEK) in 60 minutes even in rush hour. From T-Centralen in the city center you then go by taxi to Park Hotel (around 150 SEK) or by subway (40 SEK) in 10-20 min. If you come with Ryanair who operates from Nyköping airport (and not Arlanda): Bus takes 1,5hr one way (120 SEK).

Are there any events during evenings and nights planned?

The segway polo community has a tradition of spending time together during Woz Cup events, this year will be no different.
